River Forest Refuse, Recycling & Yard Waste Collection Program

To learn how your waste and recycling material collection program can best work for you, click here for a summary of your service program.

If you have questions or would like clarification, please do not hesitate to call us at 708-344-5000 or 630-469-5005.

Collection Access

To avoid the inconvenience of a missed collection or damage to a vehicle or property during pickup, we ask that residents make sure refuse and recyclables:

  • Are set out by no later than 7:00 AM at a location that is visible to the collector.
  • Are readily accessible to collectors. Collectors, typically, in back door service situations, pull one or two service carts to the collection point. Waste and/or recyclables are transferred from your containers into the service carts. The carts are larger and a bit difficult to maneuver in close quarters, around vehicles parked in a driveway, etc., especially during periods when snow and ice are on the ground. Therefore, unimpeded access is required to provide service.
