Collection Notes
Yard Waste is collected on Mondays, April through November, this year.
For more information on what Yard Waste can be set out, how it should be set out, etc., click here. Electronics are banned from landfills in the State of Illinois. As a result, the Village’s refuse and recycling collection program can no longer accept electronic items set out for disposal. To assist residents and the community’s local businesses, the Village has coordinated with Roy Strom to offer a convenient and free electronic disposal solution. HOLIDAY PICKUP SCHEDULE
The following holiday pickup schedule is observed. Service is not provided on the days these holidays are observed. Therefore, if a holiday falls on Monday or is observed on Monday, collection will be moved to the following day.
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
RIVER GROVE’S REFUSE, RECYCLING & YARD WASTE COLLECTION PROGRAM
CHANGES IN WASTE & RECYCLING PROGRAM:
The Village has incorporated a pay as you throw component in its refuse and recycling collection program to encourage recycling and make the existing program more equitable. Residents who generate less and recycle more will pay less. Residents who generate more garbage for disposal or choose to recycle less will pay more on a pay as you throw basis.
River Grove Waste Tags are used for any waste that is set out for collection in addition to the Village refuse cart that is provided to each home served under the Village’s waste and recycling program. To learn more about how the program works, click here for a summary of the new service program.

Make sure to set your refuse and recycling out for collection by no later than 6:00 AM on your regularly scheduled collection day, Monday.
