REFUSE COLLECTION
Residents set out their new BROWN LID REFUSE CART each week. All household refuse including junk items that can be placed in the cart with the lid closed will be accepted. If you have more refuse than what will fit in the cart you may set out the additional refuse in Village approved containers.
Additional household refuse must be set out in approved containers that:
- Are no less than 10 gallons or larger than 32 gallons in capacity
- Are waterproof, have two handles, and tight fitting lids
- Can be lifted by one person, and not exceed 50 pounds when full
- Additional Refuse carts can be rented by contacting the Village
BULK ITEMS / WHITE GOODS / HOME REMODELING DEBRIS
Bulk items that cannot be placed in the refuse cart or other Village approved container (furniture, grills, mattresses, etc.), and White goods/large appliances (washers, stoves, dryers, hot water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, room air conditioners, etc.), and Construction Material (wood, bricks, concrete, fencing, rocks, mud and clay, shingles and gutters, home remodeling debris like drywall, cabinets, flooring, etc.) will be accepted during your regular collection. Items over 75 pounds will have a $35.00 collection fee. Large amounts of dirt, concrete, shingles, etc. will require a roll-off dumpster.
YARD WASTE
Yard Waste (YW) consists of grass clippings, twigs, leaves and plant material. YW is to be set out in 30 gallon YW bags or in a rigid plastic container, not exceeding 33 gallons, YW containers are to be clearly marked and placed at the curb. YW bags or cans are not to exceed 50 lbs. when full. YW placed in plastic bags will not be collected. YW must be out by 6 AM. YW collection season: First Friday in April thru last Friday in November.
RECYCLING
All acceptable recyclable materials can be dropped off at the Public Works recycling drop off container located on 59th Street by the Municipal Garage. Plastic bags are not accepted in the recycling drop off container. Recycling should be loose or in a paper bag.

- Mixed Paper & Cardboard
- Plastic containers numbers 1-5 & 7
ELECTRONICS – NOT ACCEPTED IN REFUSE CART
State Law prohibits the collection of certain electronics. Contact the Village or Roy Strom for more information on what items cannot be set out for collection and how they can be properly disposed of.
HOLIDAY PICKUP SCHEDULE
Should a holiday occur or be observed on Monday through Friday the collection of refuse, recyclables, and yard waste will take place on Saturday. The following days are the only days observed as collection holidays each year:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
